Tobacco Industry Sponsorship
Tobacco companies donate to community organizations, sporting events and other community venues to build an image as good corporate citizens. However, the money that they donate comes from selling a product that kills more than 400,000 people a year. POW'R Against Tobacco is working with local businesses and organizations to help stop tobacco companies from targeting our kids through advertising, sponsorship, and promotion.

The Tobacco Industry uses five major strategies to promote tobacco use in our communities: Sponsorship, Point-of-Purchase Advertising, Promotion, Periodical Advertising, and Product Placement in Movies. Our goal is to educate community members about Big Tobacco's tactics and ask them to join our "No Thanks, Big Tobacco!" campaign.

Provided are sample resolutions and policies that organizations, events, venues, and businesses can adopt to not accept any funding or charitable donations from the tobacco industry. As part of our "No Thanks, Big Tobacco!" campaign we are collecting resolutions and policies statewide.
